(6 Months Later)

Tommy: Hey Dr. Julian! Seeing as it’s December 31st I thought it would be fitting to send an end of year text.

This year has been honestly spectacular. I’ve made what I strongly believe to be remarkable progress and have become a stronger, more well-rounded person. Of course it goes without saying that you’re the reason for much of this development, but I’m going to say it anyway. I’m eternally grateful for the abilities that you’ve helped me learn, not only researching and writing, but most crucially thinking. It’s truly a shame that such an important capability is so rare in our modern world, however thanks to your teaching I’ll go on to spread what you’ve taught me further and with any luck it’ll trickle down.

I was thinking today and it hit me how crazy this time is for me. Sort of like a climber that looks down of the side of a cliff it astonishes me how far I’ve come and how far I have left to go. Of course true studiousness lasts a lifetime, but in terms of structure not a lot lies ahead for high school. There’s only a year and a half left of the capstone diploma! I will say that’s it’s a time I’m really looking forward to though. As you know I love my class and my teacher, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve.

TLDR: it’s been great so far and I can’t wait for it to keep being great. Best new year’s wishes!

Dr. Julian: Incredible Tommy. Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I agree with you that you could consider this a turning point from "high school" studies into the level of college and the ongoing expansion into the terrain of your own increasingly unique thought. That is exciting!

As for my part, what excites me is watching my extraordinary students month by month transform and stabilize into powerful unique consciousnesses transmitting understanding, creativity, and coherence into a broader world. It may seem like a pebble in a vast river, but I don't think it is. From such pebbles, ripples spread.

Blessings on the turning of a new year, my young friend.

Tommy: Yes! Super exciting! I can imagine it must be rewarding to see such transformations! How lucky to have such a mentally malleable and open group to receive the knowledge.

Dr. Julian: You know, it is humankind's natural state.  You should understand this as you begin to feel the draw of sharing with others. Brilliance is really quite innate to us, and perhaps to the universe itself.

Tommy: Oh yes I believe we talked about that previously. It’s a shame how the educational system breaks that apart.

Dr. Julian: And the whole reductionist culture. It's not an accident!

Tommy: Exactly. I agree entirely. That’s the worst part!

Oh also, I wanted to let you know about a project I’m planning on pursuing. It involves AI and cybernetics actually. I’m planning on making an English–Western Armenian translator. I have no idea how one doesn’t already exist, but it doesn't.

Dr. Julian: Wow. What an incredible project. I am so curious about what is involved.

Tommy: Yeah me as well haha. It deals with computational linguistics. Which is fascinating for me, because I love mathematics and linguistics.

Now in reality it’s more computer science than math, but the two are closely related.

Dr. Julian: Absolutely. That's an incredible undertaking.

Tommy: I’ll keep you up to date on the progress! Oh also, I’m planning on starting physics and computer science with some tutors next year, so I thought I’d mention that to you.

Dr. Julian: Wonderful! Unless they're brilliantly cutting edge, they are likely to find my theories fringe. But who knows. Things are changing fast!

Tommy: Things are certainly! Actually I’m very optimistic though. Thankfully, I don’t have any requirements for the course per se, so really I’m free to just dive really deep into cutting edge stuff and understanding and whatnot. Which is how it should be for everyone.

You know I think the human life and evolution is the most beautiful pattern that exists. That’s why poets and playwrights use it so much.

Dr. Julian: I agree with you completely. We represent an extraordinary concentration of complexity and pattern – something approaching a singularity of recursive density within at least our cosmic region.

Tommy: That’s a beautiful statement.
